Problem
The Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) at the United Nations needed a new icon library. Part of the problem was inconsistent branding with how UN employees would use non-branded icons for their documents and reports.
Solution
April - July 2021
14 weeks
I designed new / unique icons each day for the UN. I split icons into different categories, after researching into what different teams might need.
Refining Designs
April - July 2021
14 weeks
One of the most challenging parts of this project was refining the designs and ensuring they had a consistent visual feel.
Final Designs
April - July 2021
14 weeks
Eventually we finalized over 250 icons that I had designed. When each icon was finalized, I created 6 color variations using the UN branding guidelines as options for staff to use.
Providing Color
April - July 2021
14 weeks
Something that we wanted to provide UN staff was a variety of colors they could choose from for their icons. Most icon libraries provide black and white options at the minimum, but because the UN uses UN blue as their branding color, we decided to add a few more. In the end, we had over 2,000 logos due to the color variants.
Creating Design Specs
April - July 2021
14 weeks
This was another project I had worked on at the UN. I helped re-design a navigation bar and wrote up their design specs.
Designing a Banner
April - July 2021
14 weeks
This was a client project at the UN, where I helped them re-design their banner. You can view it here! (Link available to UN employees only.)
